jonathan baker

Jonathan is the original founder of StudioNorth, formed in 2019. His move into practice follows a distinguished career with a leading national architectural firm and delivery of several award winning buildings / masterplans.

Jonathan has over twenty plus years of experience and involvement in a wide range of architectural sectors. He is responsible for providing clear and concise design direction to the wider project team, client and stakeholder groups utilising his exemplary illustrative style to communicate vision and design intent.

As Creative Director, Jonathan tends to focus on project inception, developing vision and securing planning permissions, he specialises in Urban Design , Master planning, Leisure / Tourism and the Residential sector. Most recently, Jonathan played a pivotal role in securing planning approval for a landmark apartment scheme in the centre of Newcastle close to St James Park and the Helix Quarter.

Neil sedgley

Neil offers a well-rounded and seamless service spanning architectural design and technical delivery. He has over eighteen years professional experience working with two leading nationwide architectural, design, and management practices.

He has enjoyed a career focused on the delivery of high profile commercial projects including the ‘National Biologics Manufacturing Centre’ alongside specialising in traditional forms of contract procurement.

More recently, as founder of 5Edge, he has led the detailed design and procurement of a CAT-B internal office fit-out for a global company in the new Lumen building, Helix Quarter, Newcastle. Neil directs several commercial, residential and interior led projects as part of StudioNorth.

david walton

David is a talented technical designer with a key eye for detail and comprehensive background in project delivery. He has over thirty years professional experience working within both architectural practice and contractor led development, procuring award winning buildings.

Most recently, David has founded Hotspur Architectural Design and Project Management Services. Hotspur provides expertise and support for various projects throughout the north east with key responsibilities for resource planning, work package planning, directing, supervising, and monitoring input and output activities with the architectural and contractor delivery team.

David provides technical support and onsite management for the studio’s residential and commercial portfolio.
