Jonathan Baker is Principal Architect and founder of StudioNorth, established in 2019. Since then, he has built a strong residential portfolio, securing planning consent and technical delivery for over fifty new homes across a diverse range of sites and contexts.

Jonathan leads StudioNorth’s design direction, working directly with clients, consultants and planning authorities from the early concept stage through to delivery on site. His approach is drawing-led, using freehand sketching and visual thinking to explore proportion, form and spatial intent before developing ideas into resolved architecture.

Recent work spans residential master planning, bespoke homes, conversions and extensions, including projects within sensitive heritage, conservation and rural settings. Jonathan led the Limeworks project in Northumberland from concept through to completion, which was recognised at the 2026 RIBA North East Awards, receiving the RIBA North East Award, Small Project of the Year and Client of the Year.

Neil sedgley

Neil has worked with StudioNorth since 2021, developing a significant role in technical design, visualisation and project delivery.

Neil specialises in the development and coordination of detailed architectural information, working across the practice’s residential portfolio from design development through to construction. He brings a strong understanding of how design intent is translated into coordinated, buildable information, working closely with consultants, contractors and the wider project team.

His recent work for StudioNorth includes the development of house types and the detailed technical design and coordination of North End Farm residential masterplan, together with the technical design and delivery of Croft Place, a bespoke residential project.

david walton

Technical Design & Project Delivery

David has worked with StudioNorth since 2021, bringing extensive experience in technical design, construction detailing and residential delivery to the practice.

His work focuses on coordinated technical information, specifications and construction details, with expertise in timber-frame construction and technically demanding building envelopes, including ventilated rainscreen-clad walls and complex room-in-roof solutions.

David provides specialist technical input across StudioNorth’s residential projects, with a focus on robust, coordinated and buildable construction solutions that retain the design intent through to delivery..
